6/23/2023 0 Comments Remote video production jobs![]() ![]() You will need to put some thought into how to make this work for your job. ![]() ![]() I've seen many creative short videos to showcase talents (from drone operators to writers). The big ones right now are Instagram, Tiktok, and YouTube. Video editors can have showreels, but try to show more extended scenes than a music video style reel (unless you edit music videos!).Īnother way to self promote is to create content for social media. There is no limit to what you put on your website, but you need to be editing-focused. A website portfolio explains who you are, what work you do, the software you use and testimonials from previous clients. But having a website/ showreel will be easier to maintain. Maintaining social media platforms are one way of self-promotion. To improve your online presence, create profiles on popular websites like LinkedIn or on film jobs site profiles like Mandy. Having a good online presence will help people trust you. In fact, people will likely Google search your name, so make sure that a good search result comes up when they type in ' your name video editor'. In this online world, people will always check your social profile before they hire you. This means having a photo (ideally of your face), a description saying that you are looking for remote video editing jobs and portfolio link. Furthermore, people will look at your social media profiles before hiring, making sure it looks professional. People do hire directly from social media, in particular Twitter and Instagram. Try using all social media search bars to look for work, use keywords/hashtags similar to Facebook. All social media can be used to connect with people. There is not just Facebook (even though it's the best right now). For example 'video editing jobs', 'media jobs UK', 'freelance film work' ', work editing films'. Next, you need to use keywords that tie into the type of groups you are looking for. First, make sure that you are on the group's tab. To find groups, use the Facebook search bar as you would Google. Still, you will need to search and find your own groups for remote video editing jobs. I have a list of filmmaking Facebook groups. If you don't have enough contacts, Facebook is the place to network and find them. Producers use groups to ask for help at the last minute. If you are not utilising Facebook groups for film work right now, you are missing out! This is likely the current best place to find freelance film work. But make sure not to take on jobs that don't pay your day rate. There are also sites like Fiver, Craiglist and Upwork. Have a look through the film job site list and bookmark 5 or so sites that regularly advertise editing work you are interested in. Yes, the goal is to work remotely, but people are still more likely to hire from the same country. But always make sure to look at what sites are advertising work in your location. I have a list of film job sites, and you can download my list as a PDF below. But some sites only advertise film and video work. Of course, there are the big prominent job sites such as Indeed, Linkedin. Online jobs sites do have plenty of film work being advertised, including remote video editing jobs. But this is the easiest way to find some initial clients. Unfortunately, not everyone has access to connections to start their careers. Contacts include past work colleagues, friends, distant relatives. This might be someone you know who owns a business or might need help with their freelance film work. So, have a good thing, is there anyone you know who might hire an editor? This works for film set work as it does remote video editing jobs. People always hire who they know and trust first. Most creative work comes from word of mouth, aka recommendations. OK, let's start with the easiest way to find work. ![]()
